

This was the early 1990s, well before Zoom. It started when Jay was marketing video conferencing. She met and married Jay, and earned her master's degree in training and development from the UM-Twin Cities in 1994. JL graduated from UMD with an undergraduate degree in education in 1986.

He was so good at bringing out fans, he received a three-year scholarship for his efforts. Jay studied communication (’86) and was the skating hockey mascot, the Maroon Loon. Jay and JL hardly knew each other at UMD. It stands for Jody Leigh.) The couple had some very high ups and a few downs. The pre-Zoom path was always exciting for JL and Jay. They enjoy being near their daughters, Eva and Annika, who are both students at Arizona State University. They ski and fish and they often spend time with old friends from UMD. Fast forward to 2022 and the Jacksons are enjoying life! They frequent their cabin in northern Minnesota and their ski retreat in Telluride, Colorado. This year, the Global Alliance was recognized as one of the Top 100 proposals submitted to the MacArthur Foundation’s 100&Change competition, representing the top 21 percent of competition submissions.Jay and JL Jackson at their home in Arizona.

President's Weekend will include four special breakout sessions, giving you an opportunity to connect with fellow supporters as well as Maryland leadership, students, and faculty in an intimate setting.
